COVID19 Precautions at the Practice

Following the initial lockdown and the associated closure of dental practices across the UK, we have taken significant steps to ensure the safety of our patients and staff.

This has allowed us to safely re-open and we are now able to offer a full range of dental services. These changes are listed below and include modification to our working practices and our staff training.

Ventilation Improvements

• We use mechanical external ventilation in treatment areas and the public spaces which circulates fresh air into the building whilst removing the internal air to the outside.
• Air purification units in every treatment area which filter the air and remove any airborne particles
• Leaving the surgery empty for a fixed time between patients to allow for settling of the atmosphere before deep cleaning

Social Distancing Measures

• We have zoning in our communal areas to allow for physical distancing
• Protective screens in the reception area as another physical barrier
• Controlled entry to the practice to prevent any access to the building without the prior knowledge of the staff
• Staff work in clinical groups to give some resilience to the workforce should any periods of self-isolation be required.

PPE

• Staff are now required to wear a mask at all times in the practice.
• For clinical procedures we use enhanced PPE (surgical gown/gloves/visor/apron) and custom fitted respirator masks for all staff.

Miscellaneous

• Increased deep cleaning throughout the practice with viricidal materials
• Improved telephone system to allow for coronavirus screening before each visit.
• Automatic hand sanitiser station positioned at the practice entrance
• More efficient patient movement through the practice
